Housed in the historic facilities of a 1946 shipyard, the Museum tells the story of the wooden schooners and coastal shipping on the St. Lawrence River in a 360° journey that takes us from the forest to the sea.

An Immersive Museum

Relive the epoch of the wooden schooner on the ships’ decks and set sail with the families of Charlevoix’s shipbuilders and mariners. A vibrant world to explore, sometimes through artifacts, sometimes with technology… Here, we are charting a course for the past and letting ourselves be swept away on the swells of our seafaring history.

A Family Outing

The entire museum is a call to adventure! Real ships, where you can imagine being at sea; a multimedia experience inside a ship’s hold; a high-tech game to test your skills as a captain; a huge park with a hebertism course; an outdoor escape game and picnic areas… in short, an ideal place for families to spend an exhilarating day in the great outdoors.

A 200-year history

A 200-year
history

Schooners are the stuff of legend in Charlevoix. For many a year, the region’s shores were home to some 550 seagoing vessels built with knowledge handed down from father to son. Sailing ships at first, then powered by motors, they navigated from the mouth of the river to the Great Lakes, loaded with wood, food or other cargo. The Museum honours the memory of the ships, their crews, and their builders.
